In recent years, we have seen smartphone makers try to out-do each other in the camera department, leaving users with the difficulty of choosing from an array of camera phones good enough to challenge Digital Single-lense Reflex(DSLR) cameras. Well, it appears that choosing the best camera phone is about to get a lot harder because Samsung is gearing up to launch a 108MP camera phone.
This is according to a teardown of the Samsung Camera app found in the One UI 2.0 beta, which showed support for photos with a resolution of 12,000 x 9,000, which when translated is about 108MP.
If this is true, it actually doesn’t come as a complete surprise because earlier this year, it was revealed that Samsung was working on a 108MP sensor. That being said, 108MP does seem too much for smartphones given that most photos shot on the phone will require a larger storage capacity as time passes, but overall, it is still an impressive feat of technology.
There is no word on which of Samsung’s smartphones will use this camera sensor, but there is a good chance that it might debut in 2020’s Galaxy S11.
