A temporary committee to oversee the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has been created by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), after the departure of the country’s national federation leadership.
Recall that the President of the EFA, Hani Abou Rida, resigned in July 2019 after Egypt’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations. He took the rest of the board with him and issued his technical staff a sack letter.
Egypt who was the host for the 2019 African Cup of Nations reached her end of the competition after a 1-0 defeat to South Africa.
The tournament hosts were eliminated after an 85th-minute goal by Thembinkosi Lorch in Cairo.
However, FIFA has appointed a committee to oversee the daily affairs and organize an election for a new EFA board.
FIFA has given the committee till the close of July 2020 to fulfill its duties.
