Navigating through social media is about to be very affordable going by the recent move instilled by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Allaying the complaints of numerous Nigerians as regards fast data consumption, the NCC disclosed that it has started structuring massive data internet connection at affordable rates.
The disclosure was made by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Prof Umar Danbatta, yesterday (November 19) in Port Harcourt, at an ICT innovation forum themed ‘Developing Nigeria’s tech eco-system, imperative for improving local content.’
Danbatta said license has been given to infrastructure development companies to provide fibre optic cables across Nigeria so that data-based start-ups can harness and achieve their objectives.
He also mentioned that the NCC will also be on the lookout for hate speech in cyberspace to ensure that data is consumed positively by Nigerians.
“Within the next few years you are going to see availability of massive data all over the country. We have licensed a number of infrastructure companies to deploy fibres all over the country and they have begun operations,” Danbatta said.
