Software developer, Toni Astro, on Saturday the 28th of September narrated he was allegedly assaulted by some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos State and forced to withdraw some money from his bank account.
Like several other Nigerians who had fallen victim of the exploits of the anti-robbery SARS group, Astro lamented via his Twitter handle, @toniastro_, saying;
So yeah ?, SARZ messed up my Saturday and I get to be locked up because I’m a software developer.

The mishap on Astro stirred so many reactions from fellow technological experts, who arrived at a consensus to embark on a campaign.
Bosun Tijani of CcHub, Jason Njoku of iROKO Tv, Seni Sulyman of Andela, Victor Asemota of Alta Global Ventures, Mark Essien of Hotels.ng and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji (formerly of Andela and Flutterwave), all of which are prominent tech individuals took to their twitter handles to speak against the SARS threat that have been recurring in the society for a long while now.
They are calling for a decisive action to be taken against corrupt Nigerian police officers who harass and extort young Nigerians who carry a laptop around.
To that effect, Jason Njoku, the iROKO Tv boss donated the sum of NGN N10m to support the campaign. We’ll continue to keep a close eye on developments.
Perhaps the Federal Government might take the issue more seriously this time owing to the fact that prominent Nigerian Tech founders are now speaking up.
