Samsung is known for many things; from TVs to smartphones to computers and even wearables, however, it appears that the company is expanding into robotics because, at CES 2020, the company has taken the wraps off its latest robot called Ballie.
Pronounced as “Ball-E”, the ball-shaped robot is still very much a concept and according to Samsung, they claim that this will be a “life companion robot” which has been designed to help around the house.
There’s not a ton of info about the robot, but it clearly has a camera on the front from navigating around the home. It utilizes on-device AI to perform a series of tasks, including home security and fitness.
Ballie remains a concept, for now, therefore it remains unknown if Samsung has plans to make it a reality and bring it to the market, but it definitely shows that the company is very much interested in robotics.
