Renowned Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji stars alongside British stars like Kate Beckinsale and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, in an upcoming film titled ‘Farming’.
Nnaji recently gagged the world with her directorial debut film, “Lionheart” which created history as the first African film to be bought by the American film streaming platform, Netflix.
Farming was filmed in 2017 in London and Nigeria. It addressed issues like racism and identity.
It also stars British-Nigerian actor, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje who is also famous for films like OZ, Game of Thrones and Suicide Squad.
Farming depicts the real-life story of Agbaje’s childhood in the UK when he began living with his white working-class foster family.
In the movie Farming, Nnaji alongside Adewale played the role of his Nigerian student parents who farm him off to an abusive foster mother played by Kate Beckinsale known for roles in Underworld and Van Helsing.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw from Black Mirror played the role of supporting the character of the teacher who assists Enitan in finding his redemption.
Another British actor of Nigerian descent, Damson Idris also stars in Farming. Idris is famous for his roles in Snowfall and Black Mirror. He plays a fictional character based on Adewale called Enitan.
So far the trailer of Farming has left everyone anticipating its release in October.
Issues like racism and identity were addressed in the movie.
