The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, flew for India yesterday, 12th of August, where he will be attended to medically.
Amidst tight security, the IMN leader traveled in the company of his wife Zeenat, and a few family members yesterday evening.
Recall that since 2015, El-Zakzaky has been in detention. He is being tried for alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace among other charges.
His lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) disclosed that he will be receiving medical treatment in an Indian hospital, although he didn’t disclose the name.
Sahara Reporters reported that an eye witness from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, confirmed the departure.
The source said, “The airport is tensed as we speak. No one knows what will happen but they have secretly taken him inside the aircraft.
“The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) is also involved, they are the ones taking him there and they have departed.”
