The Nigerian Police has said that the founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, is currently undergoing investigation over the case of alleged rape leveled against him by Busola Dakolo, a celebrity photographer and wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo.

This was disclosed by DCP Frank Mba, the Public Relations Officer of the force, during an interview with Punch Nigeria at the early hours of today, August 27.

According to Mba, prior to now, the Police have been conducting a background investigation, to gather several statements from witnesses to build a solid case before ordering his presence at their station.

The police spokesman said, “We have done a whole lot of background investigations and spoken to a whole lot of people before now. It was a deliberate investigative procedure to bring him last. Although we may invite others later depending on how investigations go.

“We were not in a hurry to bring him because we wanted to have enough background information that would be used in interrogating him. We have done an extensive investigation.”

Recall that the 28th of June an emotional gripping tell-all interview by Chude Jideonwo with Busola Dakolo broke the internet. In the video, Busola narrated how she lost her virginity to Fatoyinbo via rape in 1999, twenty years ago while she was a teenager.

Since then, Fatoyinbo has managed to evade a panel set up by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to investigate the rape allegations, According to him, his lawyers told him not to appear because the accusation was laced with prejudice and that the panel is likely to fall short of an impartial session.

Fatoyinbo, however, said he will face the panel after the police investigations are over.
