The House of Representatives has just received the name of Hon. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed for approval by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chief Justice of the Federation.
Also sent across to the Senate for approval was the appointment of 15 special advisers that will aid Tanko in performing his duties effectively as Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Buhari’s letter of request was read before the house by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan at plenary on Wednesday, July 10.
Before now, Mohammed has been serving in an acting capacity since January 2019 after the former Chief Justice, Justice Walter Onnoghen was suspended from office.
