Bill Gates has reclaimed the world’s richest person’s title from Jeff Bezos, who for the past two years held the spot.
As of Friday’s market close, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index relayed that with riches worth $110 billion, Gates by one mark difference trajected upward leaving Amazon’s CEO, Bezos in second place at $109 billion.
Bezos’s recent divorce with his ex-wife MacKenzie Bezos landed him on the second spot. An estimated $38 billion worth of Amazon’s shares was relinquished as settlement for a divorce, making her the world’s fourth-richest woman according to Bloomberg.
Also in Bloomberg’s Friday market close, MacKenzie makes the 24th richest person in the world.
The Microsoft co-founder Gates was able to secure the spot after Microsoft’s stock moved upward by 48 percent which enhanced his stake values.
Gates had secured the richest man title for 24 years before Bezos got underway in 2018 with a net worth of $160 billion.
Behind Gates and Bezos as third-richest man is French business magnate, Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy with a net worth of $103 billion.
