For the longest time, rumours have claimed that Apple is dabbling in the realm of augmented reality and if the rumours are true, the company could be planning to launch an augmented reality, virtual reality(AR/VR) headset with a pair of lightweight AR glasses in 2023. However, according to new reports, it seems that we could get a taste of what’s to come in 2020.
The reports claim that Apple could be planning on launching a new iPad Pro in 2020 where it is expected to adopt a dual-camera setup that could also come with a 3D sensor so users can create “reconstructions of rooms, objects, and people”. This sensor has been in the pipeline at Apple for the past few years and according to multiple reports, it is a more advanced version of Face ID.
In spite of this, it remains unknown as to how this sensor will work or how it will be used, however, it is expected to make its debut on the iPad Pro before it eventually finds its way to the iPhone. As earlier stated, Apple has been dabbling in AR tech for a while now and in a bid to bolster its efforts, the company has made several acquisitions to help with the technology.
So come 2020, we could get a hint of what the company is working towards and how they plan to differ from the competition.
