Alicia Keys is certainly on fire! the singer’s exhilarating performance last year has secured her a spot again as the host for next year’s Grammy Awards, making it two times in a row for her.
Last year marked a significant turn for the star-studded ceremony as Keys after 14 years, became the first female to emcee the awards. Before her, Queen Latifah was the last and that was as far back as 2005.
“At first, I did think last year was a one-time thing, but when the opportunity came back around, there was no question about returning as host.
“Last year was such a powerful experience for me. Not only did I feel the love in the room, but I felt it from around the world, and it confirmed the healing and unifying the power of music.” She told Billboard.
Speaking on Keys hosting the event a second time, Deborah Dugan, the Recording Academy president described her as an undeniable talent.
“From best new artist recipient to Grammy Award host, Alicia Keys has been a beacon of artistry within the music community for more than two decades. Last year was a testament to her compelling creativity, and we are thrilled that she will return to the Grammy stage as our host,” Dugan said.
Keys, however, added that her exceptional conduct as a host was as a result of her being a regular award receiver.
I know what it feels like to be on that stage, and I’m going to bring that vibe and energy,” she said.
The 2020 Grammy awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, on January 26.
