To put a halt on the political deadlock in Algeria, the country has assigned December 12 for its presidential election.

Current President of Algeria, Abdelkader Bensalah, disclosed this in a speech yesterday (September 15), adding that the election was an imperative decision by the country to ease the citizens of the long experienced anti-government street protests since February.

“The time has come today for everyone to give precedence to the nation’s supreme interests over all other considerations because the matter is related to the future of our country and the future of our children.

“I am still confident that these elections represent the sole and effective democratic solution, which will allow our country to overcome its current situation,’’ Bensalah said.
