A total of 14,337 non-financial members were removed from the records of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). because of the inability to pay association dues for over three years.
Also in a statement appended by John I. Evbodaghe the registrar to the professional body, 11,240 members owing dues from six months to three years were suspended.
The statement read in part: “Council has directed that members should be given two weeks grace period ending November 19, 2019, to further reconcile their financial status with the Institute.”
The institute however disclosed that the names of the debtors will be published in national Newspapers if they refused to pay within two weeks.
